To care or not to care

Lots of questions... such as: "To care or not to care" which sounds like "to be or not to be". Seems similar, to me, too. If I am then I care. I have to care! The answer to this question is simply - CARE.

How can I live and not care? The fact is I CARE ABOUT:
myself,
my CHILDREN!
my partner,
my family (whoever they are),
my friends,
my neighbors,
my community,
my religion,
my town,
my State,
my political party,
my country,
MY WORLD!

As I look at the list I think it is fairly well ordered. Yes it begins with myself. And then it uses the possessive "my" and I do think that a certain aspect of owning the people and things listed is ok. It is ok as long as there is reciprocation and boundaries and freedom for all. The "my" possessive is not meant to be controlling but is meant to be significantly connecting.

Control - NO.

Connect - YES.

To connect is to care as far as I understand things. I try to know and understand people and remember them and as I know I become aware of ways to care and help and support those on the list.

Caring is a matter of loving and/or helping and/or being present and/or voting and/or praying, etc. ALL my actions are meant to connect me -- closely or with distance.

I simply believe - caring equals connecting OR connecting equals caring... Together, either way, the result is community and as the kind of animal/mammal we are -- community is essential. No one of us, today or ever?, can live all alone without benefits from others. We all do something for some other and how close we are connected differs for different things but we all have needs others fill and/or have filled.

COMMUNITY! Care! Really. "Not caring" is not an option. I have been and am cared for... and I must reciprocate if My World will continue. If I, and others, do not reciprocate then the future will likely be DONE. I would rather continue myself and with others and I hope we can make a world that is better and better and better for all.

Am I forgiving or ??? - what is the opposite?

NOTE: Today is many days, perhaps three months, since I started the post below... Certainly other posts are dated early January, 2020... and today is April 10, 2020 - the second day of Passover, the 2nd day of the Jewish New Year of Spring, and the day I have asserted (promised) I would write in a regular, routine, disciplined fashion. Here I go... again ! ======================================== Am I forgiving? Forgiveness is considered a good thing to do. I didn't quickly come to a word or two for its opposite. A simple search of google quickly suggested -: merciless and vindictive to be the opposite of forgiveness and a link to many, many more words/ideas that are the opposite of forgiving  . T ry this , too.  Another look might be to consider the word forgive and what are its opposites and synonyms? HERE at Word hippo are many options! AND today (as of this new writing) -- Holding a GRUDGE seems to be an opposite and one can do that by acting out and attacking ot...

For or Against?

Our country is divided and if we look beyond our borders to other countries we have opponents there to. Divisions seem to get us to choose one side or another. We are therefor FOR something or AGAINST something. One way or the other. Either/Or. Another way to look at things is Both/And or win-win or compromise and collaboration. BUT - more fundamentally I think we all have someTHING about which we will not compromise and determining what that radically important issue is for me or you... is The Question. There are many ideals any of us might choose to stand on. Big ideals such as freedom and democracy. Ideals such as family might be where we take a stand. Religion or race or gender or whatever! are ideas, thing, people.... for whom we would be firm. A home or a country or  perhaps our planet are things we might not compromise about... at some point. The next important question then is where is that "point"? Let me cut to the essential consideration which is most imp...

Bravery OR fear....

Are we a nation of brave people? Living in the home of the brave? Brave in our strength and our honor and our justice and our generosity? Or are we afraid and if so of what? Are we afraid to share, of weakness, of prejudice? Each of us is brave and each of us have fears. There are risks and the risks are subject to understanding. If we understand what our fears are and why we have certain fears and then consider how we can be brave and not jeopardize ourselves, our families, and our communities - then we can be rational and caring human beings. We will have set limits and plans for now and the future. SO - I am not a risk taking person. For instance I hesitate to take in a homeless person for the night or day or week... however I want to help the homeless and do so with money and other resources I have which allow for giving/caring/sharing while not jeopardizing my home. As I consider other people such as migrants coming to this country I wonder about protecting my country AND ...
